Candi Sambisari (Java, Indonesia) was discovered in 1966. Built in the 9th century this Hindu temple, was hidden under volcanic ash and completely forgotten. Sambisari was spared centuries of looting and plundering. Excavations have revealed an extremely complete sanctuary.
