Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world where 60% of its population live on 2 USD a day. Country has many internal problems caused by corruption, poor access to education, and natural disasters. While visiting Cap-Haïtien we did not feel safe on the streets. Among the passers-by, we have never encountered a smile. On the contrary, their eyes were always cold. The Haitians do not see tourists too often and their enmity and even hostility was palpable in the air.
