Almost all the islands in the Bahamas rise only a few feet above the water. The highest peak, Mount Alvernia is only 63 meters/ 206 feet high above sea level. These isles and cays have different character than mountainous Caribbean in the south and actually Bahamas archipelago does not belong to Caribbean; it is a separate group of islands that contain country of Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. |
