House Without Walls

November 17-18

Villa Atelier is open from the inside to the surroundings. Typical boundaries between interior and exterior do not exist here. There are no walls or typical windows. The whole house is like a one big terrace overlooking the ocean and the surrounding green tropical forest.

The house has a simple monolithic structure with concrete floors and glass walls. The green roof with vegetation makes the house blend in perfectly with the steep slope on which it stands. The interior was designed in a minimalist spirit. Custom-made furniture and Shibari lamps resembling sculptures were brought from the Czechia.

We watched birds in our spare time. Toucans with their cackling donkey-like sound were easy to spot. The hummingbirds were relatively noiseless, but they often hovered by the terrace, feeding on flower nectar.
