Most of modern Turkey is one of the first regions of the world where people permanently settled. Part of Turkey belongs to the Fertile Crescent, where the agricultural revolution began. It was here that people began to cultivate ancient grains and domesticated the first animals. One of the first cities, Çatalhöyük, is also located in Turkey.
