We wanted to see animals in the wild. Reserva Natural Cabo Blanco sounded like the right place to visit. We wandered in the dense woods for several hours. However, we did not manage to encounter many animals, but surprisingly we saw a white-tailed deer passing by. Sounds weird, a deer in a moist tropical forest? It was an opportunity to learn that this is its natural habitat. After all, we deserved a decent lunch. The nearby Montezuma was a tiny vacation town with plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Our plan was to take the ferry across Gulf of Nicoya the next morning. To make things easier, we found a wild campsite not far from the marina. Playa Margerita near a small village was the perfect spot. I asked the locals if we could camp there. Nobody objected. They assured us that we were in a safe place. Beach itself turned out to be a very nice, but unfortunately it had lots of plastic brought by waves. Locals do not bother to take care of their backyard.

The ferry crossing lasted 1 hour 15 min. We spent the rest of the day driving farther south. We stayed for the night at ABC Lodge owned by a Dutch. The nearby Playa Tortuga did not impress us, but a pair of scarlet macaw parrots with their loud squawks, squeaks and screams managed to do so.
