Unfortunately, the city's fame comes at a price. Rome, which attracts about 10 million foreigners each year, is probably the most visited city in the world and is consequently very crowded. During the day it is extremely difficult to get close to the Trevi Fountain, people fill every inch around. If you do not plan your visit well in advance, you have to wait in long lines for tickets to the main attractions, or you just cannot see them. Get ready to explore the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums shoulder to shoulder with other people. Admiring sculptures and paintings is only possible between the heads of others. Visiting Rome is not a relaxing vacation.
