A curiosity of the north-eastern US are wooden covered bridges. You can come across them in many places, also in Vermont. The natural question is why bridges are covered? The idea is to protect the wooden structure from the destructive effects of sun, rain and snow and extend its lifespan. Traditional wooden bridges typically last only 20 years, while a covered bridge could stand over 100 years.
