It is estimated that there were over 15,000 covered bridges in North America. There are still many left, some of them in New Hampshire. All the bridges may seem similar, but they are distinguished by the truss structure. Short bridges have simple single-span structures. The longer and larger bridges are based on a complex truss to bear the load.
