The first permanent settlement in Bermuda, St.George was founded in 1612 by sea survivors after their ship wrecked on surrounding reef. Most of the buildings standing today were constructed from 17^th to 19^th century; some streets are exactly as two centuries ago. This perfectly preserved, one of the oldest English settlements in the New World is not a museum, but a living city.
