Pair of pitons are symbol of St. Lucia. Located south out of Soufrière on the Caribbbean coast, twin massive volcanic cones rise to a height of 798m /2624ft from the shoreline. They stand about 1 mile a part with nice artificial beach in between. French names were given to simply distinguish them: Gros for the higher and Petit for the smaller of Pitons. |
