There are many abandoned dwellings on Cat Island. They range from slavery era huts to 18th-century plantation mansions. This is mostly because of strict regulations that control real estate market. When local people move to another island in the Bahamas they do not sell their property. Abandoned houses slowly become ruins, silent monuments of the past.
