Cape Bonavista on the island of Newfoundland in Canada is the place where John Cabot arrived in 1497, discovering America for the British crown. Today, the small statue to honor this Italian explorer and the Matthew, a replica of his ship can be found in the area. Among the interesting places of the peninsula, is the historic village of Trinity. In the summer it is not difficult to observe passing whales from the shores of Bonavista.
